Privacy Policy

What We Collect

FitCoach AI collects information you provide directly: account details (email), body metrics (height, weight, age, gender), dietary logs (food descriptions, photos, calorie estimates), activity logs, and weight records.

How We Use Your Data

  • Calculate your personalized calorie budget and macro targets
  • Process food photos and descriptions through AI for calorie estimation
  • Display your tracking history and progress
  • Process payments through Stripe (we do not store payment card details)

AI Processing

Food photos and text descriptions are sent to Anthropic's Claude API for nutritional analysis. Photos are processed in real-time and are not stored by the AI provider after processing. Your food data may be cached locally to improve future search results.

Data Storage

Your data is stored securely in Supabase (PostgreSQL) with row-level security policies ensuring only you can access your own data. Food photos uploaded for recognition are stored in encrypted cloud storage.

Mobile App Data

The FitCoach AI mobile app may additionally collect:

  • Camera — Used exclusively for food photo recognition and barcode scanning. Photos are sent to our AI service for analysis and are not stored permanently on our servers.
  • Health data (HealthKit / Health Connect) — If you grant permission, we read step count and active calories to automatically update your activity log. We never write to or modify your health data. This data stays on your device and is only sent to our servers as aggregated daily totals.
  • Push notifications — Used for meal reminders and weekly reports. You can disable these at any time in Settings.
  • Microphone — Used only for voice-based food descriptions. Audio is processed locally or sent for transcription and is not stored.
  • Local storage — We cache your daily data on-device (SQLite) for offline access. This data is encrypted and only accessible by the app.
  • Barcode scanning — Product barcodes are looked up via Open Food Facts (a public database). No personal data is sent in barcode lookups.

We Do Not

  • Sell your personal data to third parties
  • Use your data for advertising or ad targeting
  • Track you across other apps or websites
  • Share your health data with insurers or employers
  • Store your food photos permanently after AI processing

Your Rights

You can delete your account and all associated data directly from the app (Profile → Settings → Delete Account) or by contacting us. Upon deletion, all personal data, food logs, activity logs, health data, calibration history, and uploaded photos will be permanently removed within 30 days.

You can also export all your data before deletion (Profile → Settings → Export Data).

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all data is removed within 30 days.
